MARGAO: Navelim Villagers Union defeated Sporting Club of Davorlim via the tie-breaker in the Wilred Leisure Cup, played at the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs ground, Curtorim, on Friday.
Both teams played an exciting brand of football, however, there were no goals in the first session. After the lemon break, the match picked up intensity with both teams trying to break the deadlock.
Travis D’Souza gave Navelim Villagers Union the lead in the 55th minute to make it 1-0.
Sporting Club of Davorlim came from behind in the 64th minute through Ryan Furtado made it 1-1. In the tie-breaker, Navelim Villagers Union proved to be the better shooters.
