RAIA: Navelim Villagers Union outplayed USC Seraulim 4-2 via tie-breaker to enter the quarter-finals of 13th Cana-Benaulim Panchayat Cup inter-village football tournament played at the St John Baptist ground, Benaulim, on Sunday.
Both the teams were tied goalless in the full session. USC Seraulim missed chances through Dickson Rogtao in the first half, while Navelim Villagers Union’s Prestly Gomes missed chances to score in the second half.
In the ensuing tie-breaker, Aryan Arvade, Terrance Miranda, Prestly Gomes and Vevito Costa netted for Navelim Villagers Union, while Flasico and Sandeep Shanke found the mark for USC Seraulim.
Earlier, the tournament was declared opened by Benaulim Sarpanch Xavier Pereira in the presence of club officials and other dignitaries.
