SIRLIM: Navelim Villagers Union got the better of Curtorim Gymkhana 4-2 via the tie-breaker and moved into the quarterfinals of the 23rd All-Goa Our Lady of Merces 8-a-side Inter-Village Tournament 2022 organised by Sirlim Sports Club and played at Our Lady of Hope Church ground, Chinchinim.
After the 6th minute into the match Mario Mascarenhas Curtorim Gymkhana powerful left footer missed the target by inches. Navelim Villagers Union’s Jayson Coutinho shot hit cross bar. First half of the match was mostly played in centre of the ground.
Changing over Navelim pressed the Curtorim defence but goalkeeper Aleeward was equally good. Navelim’s Jayson was booked for pulling opponent player in the 47th minute. At the final whistle both teams played goalless.
In the tie-breaker, Clinton, Ronaldo, Nevin and Anil were on target for Navelim Union whilst only Jamu and Mario netted for Curtorim. Frazier and Aliston kicks were saved by Navelim Keeper Selvin Gomes.
