PANJIM: Navelim Villagers Union recorded a hard-fought 2-1 win over Young Strikers Club Benaulim in the Goa Football Association U-14 League match at Cavelossim ground, on Sunday.
Mayfern Rebello had given Navelim a first half lead and Abiel Costa doubled the account at the hour mark for the winning side. Benaulim team managed to reduce the margin in the 64th minute through Nathan Almeida.
In another match at Curtorim, Futebol Club YFA recorded a narrow 1-0 win over Maina Sports Club. Vardhan Pathania netted the only goal of the game in the 16th minute.
At Poriat ground, Arpora Sporting Club defeated host Goa United Calangute 2-0.
Soham Nagvekar scored in first half and Druv Kaskar scored in the second half.
At Bicholim ground, Goan Warriors thumped Siddeshwar SCC 4-1. Siddeshwar were first to take the lead in the 3rd minute through Deevesh Khodginkar. But Goan Warriors came back strongly and scored four goals through Fati Rane, Nikhil Gawas, Zaid Khan and Shreyash Shetye.
