PANJIM: Neha of TBC outboxed Suman in the Junior 50 kg category, in the semi-finals of the State Boxing Championship held at the Boxing hall, Peddem, on Thursday.
In the Men’s section, Deepak Kumar of Waves Boxing Club won over Sahil Sheikh of Panjim Boxing Club in the semi-final match.
Though flat footed and experienced Ishwar Pujari of Calangute took on Bosco Roshan of Calangute. Pujari tried every trick in the book to outbox Roshan of Waves Boxing Club. He outpunched him in the 2nd and 3rd rounds to win the bout.
However, the highlight of the evening was the Elite Men Lt Fly Bout between Umesh Chawan of Mapusa Boys Boxing Club and Santosh of Panjim Boxing Club. Both boxers fought blow-to-blow but Umesh eventually with his quick combinations, beat Santosh.
The finals of both the men’s and women’s categories will be held today. Executive Director, Sports Authority of Goa will be the chief guest for the finals while minister and President, Goa Boxing Association will be the guest of honour.
