MAPUSA: Nerul SC had to wait for the penalty shootout as they registered 4-3 win over Pilerne SC to enter the semifinals of the Goveia Cup organised by YSC Colvale, held at Colvale Church ground, here, on Tuesday.
Both teams played with compact defence giving no space to the attacking line.
In the 25th minute Pilerne’s custodian Krupesh Bandodkar came up with a spectacular save off a Niklesh Naik strike.
Again in the 30th Krupesh brought another outstanding save from Deu Sangelkar efforts.
In the second half Nerul SC came up with a attacking plan raiding the Pilerne citadel time and again but failed to break the deadlock.
With the match ending in a goalless draw, the penalty shootout was enforced where Nerul won by 4-3 margin.
Man-of-the-match was awarded to Krupesh Bandodkar of Pilerne SC at the hands of by Herculano D’Souza, YSC Colvale executive committee member.
