CALANGUTE: Nerul Sports Club prevailed over St Savio Sports Club, Calangute 6-5 via the tie-breaker to move into the quarter-final of late Gajanath Kamat Babholkar all-Goa inter-village football tournament organized by Chapora Yuvak Sangh, at Chapora ground, on Friday. Both teams were levelled 1-1 at half time.
Pedro Gonsalves put Calangute ahead in the 17th minute. Stung by the reverse, Nerul went all out and restored parity in the 25th minute off a penalty converted by Sidharth Shirodker.
With scores even, the winners were decided on penalties. Nerul proved better shooters beating Calangute 5-4. Deepraj Sangelkar, Devu Sangelkar, Sidharth Shirodker, Paul Cardoz and Radhakrishna Desai converted for the winners while Joaquim Gonsalves, Deep Govekar, Amol Salgaonkar and Sameer Chodankar were on target for St Savio.
