CHAPORA: Nerul Sports Club defeated Penha de Franca 3-2 to move into the next round of the Anjuna Caisua Village Panchayat Cup, organized by Chapora Sports Club, at Chapora ground, on Thursday.
Nerul SC broke the deadlock in the 4th minute of play when Anson D’Souza positioned himself perfectly to score through a neat placement.
Penha de Franca did not wait for long and netted in the equalizer minutes later through Rajan Pureji’s 25-yard shot.
Nerul SC exerted tremendous pressure and managed to once again take the lead through Siddhart Shirodkar only to see Dilip Rodrigues fire in the equalizer for Penha de Franca.
In the 35th minute of play Paul Cardozo scored the ball important goal for Nerul SC through a long range effort.
