GOA VELHA: Nerul Sports Club trounced CAC Cansaulim 4-1 to move into the next round of the 14th London Trophy Inter Village football tournament, organised by Goa Velha Sports Club, at Goa Velha Sports Club ground.
Chetan Dabholkar headed home after an initial effort hit the crossbar and rebounded into play to put Nerul Sports Club ahead in the fourth minute.
Deepraj Sangelkar of Nerul SC headed wide in the sixth minute. Viraj Malik consolidated the lead for Nerul Sports Club as he headed home off a Manish Govekar cross in the 17th minute.
Janifar Clemente’s shot was kept out by Cansaulim keeper in the 21st minute. In the 27th minute, Viraj Malik’s attempt hit the post and rebounded into play. Viraj Malik made it 3-0 as he headed home off a corner by Janifar Clemente in the 48th minute. Manish Govekar shot home from close range in the 50th minute to make it 4-0 in favour of Nerul Sports Club.
Alison Soares missed a golden opportunity to reduce the margin as he shot wide after doing all the spadework in the 60th minute. Alison Soares reduced the margin for CAC in the 66th minute as he volleyed the ball in the Nerul goal from the top of the box.
Deu Sangelkar of Nerul Sports Club and Domnic Soares of CAC were cautioned by the match official Raja Pir.
