MAPUSA: Nerul SC registered a hard fought 1-0 win over BAFF, to enter the finals of Goveia Cup, organised by YSC Colvale, held at Colvale Church ground, here, on Saturday.
Both the teams played compact in defence in the first 20 minutes of play. Nerul attacked earning a corner kick and a couple of free-kicks which were negated by the BAFF defence.
In the 28th minute, a power packed left footer from Gopi Gad of BAFF missed the target by a whisker.
In the 40th minute, Akash Banaulikar of Nerul SC ballooned over a free kick wasting a good opportunity.
In the 57th minute, Nerul SC got the lead with Nehal Naik scoring off a goal mouth melee.
In the 62th minute, Nerul SC earned a penalty, however Akash Banaulikar shoot was well saved by the BAFF keeper.
Man-of-the-match award was given to Nehal Naik of Nerul SC by Dominic Pereira- Secretary of YSC Colvale.
Nerul SC now meet CDJ Ribandar in the finals on the December 29.
