MAPUSA: Nerul Sports Club came from a goal down to edge past Youth Sports Club of Colvale by 2-1 margin in the Goveia Cup 2023, organised by YSC Colvale at Colvale church ground, on Friday.
In the 12th minute, Roger Miranda gave the lead with a stinging grounder to put Youth Club of Colvale 1-0 ahead.
On crossing over, in the 44th minute, Deu Sangelkar equalised for Nerul Sports Club with a smart lob over the Youth Sports Club of Colvale goalkeeper, 1-1.
In the injury time, Nerul SC found the match-winner through Mathew Gonsalves’ placement 2-1.Deu Sangelkar of Nerul SC received the man-of-the-match award from Wynne Paul, vice-president of Youth Sports Club of Colvale. Nerul SC now will play against Pilerne SC on December 19, in the quarter-finals.
