SANQUELIM: Nerul United defeated Sai Avatar Anjuna 5-4 via the tie-breaker to move into final of Late Musa Ali Aga football tournament organised by Eagle SC, at Sankhali Municipal ground, on Wednesday.
Both teams started the match on the forefront. Nerul United through Rajat Chopdekar should have netted the first goal but the latter’s shot hit the side netting of Sai Avatar in the 12th minute.
At the other end, Sai Avatar’s Rohan Kamble’s left footer was denied by the Nerul cross bar in the 39th minute.
Both teams tried their level best to score in the full time but their strikers lacked sharpness .
In the tie-breaker, Rajat Chopdekar , Ryan Pereira, Melvin lobo , Anthony Fernandes and Yeshwant More netted for Nerul United while for Sai Avatar Anjuna Rohan, Akshay, Vinayak and Dinesh scored for Sai Avatar.
