FATORDA: Loyola High School, Margao edged past Bethany Convent High School, Sao Jose de Areal 5-4 via the tie-breaker to move into the final of the U-14 boys Subroto Mukherjee Salcete taluka football tournament organised by DSYA, at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, on Friday.
Bethany Convent HS had the upper hand in the first five minutes with Veron Rocha and Vicky Diwale tormenting the Loyola defence but Loyola keeper Reev Goes played brilliantly to hold the rivals.
Either of the teams tried their level best to find the breakthrough but their strikers failed to make a mark.
In the resultant tie-breaker, Loyola High School netted through Mark Rodrigues, Ashney Gomes, Flann Crasto, Reev Goes and Rui Noronha while Jagdesh Nalkar, Sarvesh Palkar, Veron Rocha and Aryan scored for Bethany Convent High School.
In another match, Our Lady of Rosary High School, Fatorda defeated Our Lady of Snows, Raia 1-0 to move into the final.
Yash Pawar netted the match winner for Our Lady of Rosary High School.
