PANJIM: A fine brace by Nester Dias helped Goa Velha Sports Club thump Curtorim Gymkhana 4-2 in the GFA First Division League match, played at Goa Velha ground, on Wednesday.
The teams were locked 1-1 at the break.
Coming over from their previous defeat against Goa Police, Goa Velha went all guns blazing against a young Curtorim Gymkhana side. The home team managed to break the deadlock in the 35th minute through Micheal Dias.
Despite dominating the play, Goa Velha conceded the equalising goal in the 42nd minute off a counter attack through Welson Fernandes, 1-1.
Crossing over, Goa Velha attacked from the word go and showed their intent to collect full points as they pressed their opponents in their box.
However, Curtorim defended resolutely to thwart the danger but finally succumbed in the 72nd minute when Nestor Dias capitalised on a defensive lapse to give his team a much deserved lead.
Couple of minutes later the former Dempo SC junior doubled his tally with a brilliant shot that gave no room for the rival keeper to give his team a two-goal cushion.
Curtorim struggled to keep the ball possession and were punished with the fourth goal through M Morais in the 85th minute.
Fraizer Rogtao scored late in the game to make it 2-4 for Curtorim.
