MAPUSA: Two goals blitz by Sporting Clube de Goa striker Ngangbam Singh enabled them to register a 2-0 win over Pax of Nagoa in the Goa Professional League match played at Duler Stadium, here, on Saturday.
Sporting Clube’s coach Francisco Fernandes came with just one change, while Pax of Nagoa coach Mateus Costa brought three changes in their Starting XI from their last GPL match.
It was Sporting Clube’s Ngangbam Singh who scored a goal in each session of play.
In the first half an hour nothing much transcribed apart from some fine crosses from the wingers where Sporting Clube’s Ngangbam saw his two deadly crosses being squandered by the strikers.
In the course of the match, Ngangbam saw two of his strikes being saved by Pax of Nagoa custodian Aryan Surwade.
At the other end, Pax of Nagoa’s Velroy Fernandes failed to keep his strike inside the goal frame work off Stephen Satarkar cross.
However, in the added time, finally Ivon Costa sent a floater to well positioned Ngangbam who this time made no mistake to place the ball into the far corner of the Pax of Nagoa goal, 1-0.
On resumption of play, Flaming Oranje continued on their domination and after some couple of missed chances it was mercurial strike Ngangbam who in the 70th minute was at the right place at the right time to stab Rohan Rodrigues cross into the goal, 2-0.
Just two minutes later, Pax of Nagoa substitute Rorelliana was frustrated to see his strong left footer being blocked by Sporting Clube’s custodian Abhimanyu Singh from a close.
In the closing stages of the match, Sporting Clube’s Joyson Coutinho header was blocked for a corner by Pax of Nagoa custodian, while an excellent free-kick by substitute Doyal Alves hit defender for a corner.
