Nitish retains Kanchanibai Rolling Trophy

PANJIM: Geno Pharmaceuticals Brand Ambassador FM Nitish Belurkar of Tiswadi Taluka won the 3rd Kanchanibai Prabhudesai Memorial Rolling Trophy thus retaining his title for consecutive second time in the tournament jointly organised by Unique Chess Academy and Banavali Chess Club under the affiliation of Salcete Taluka Chess Association and Goa Chess Association, at Multipurpose School hall, Borda-Margao, recently.
In the last round, Nitish defeated Colaco Vernon Jesus with black pieces to remain undefeated with 8.5 points from 9 rounds.
Earlier, in the 7th round, he was held to a draw by Ritviz Parab but as Ritviz was upset by Niraj Saripalli in the 8th round and Niraj was held by Devsesh Naik in the last round, Nitish went on to become 7th stoppable.  
Parsekar Anirudh of Mormugao Taluka finished second with 7.5 points after he won against Vraj Porob in a complicated rook ending position while Niraj Saripalli of Salcete Taluka secured the third position after he was held by Devesh Anand Naik of Ponda Taluka in the final round. 
The following are the other winners from fourth to tenth place: Colaco Reuben, Ritviz Belurkar, Devesh Anand Naik, Shirodkar Ayush, Colaco Vernon Jesus, Snehil Shetty, Parth Salvi.

The competition was held under the guidance of Chief Arbiter Sanjay Kavlekar and deputy arbiters Swapnil Hoble and Gautam Tari.
