MARGAO: Delhi Dynamos FC marquee player-cum-coach Roberto Carlos has insisted his team won’t go in with a defensive approach against FC Goa in the second leg of their 2015 Hero Indian Super League semi-final at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda on Tuesday. The Lions, who won the first leg 1-0 in New Delhi through a Robin Singh header, only need a draw to advance to the final.
However, Carlos, at the pre-match conference on Monday, made it clear that they had no plans to be defensive. “My team will always be attacking. And the match here will be almost the same as the last one. There will be no change in mentality. We’ll shoot on goal. We need one more goal,” Carlos told reporters.
When asked if Delhi missed a trick by not scoring more goals in the first leg, Carlos replied in the negative.
“I believe in destiny, in fate, if we didn’t score in the last match it’s because we were not destined to. I am not worried about it. I am not worried how many goals we scored in the previous games because we have quality players, they are high level; they are used to playing semi-finals. They have quality, so it’s for each one to do their best tomorrow,” the Brazilian said.
When asked if his players were mentally ready for the all-important contest in Goa, Carlos said: “I still haven’t spoken to my players. We still have time to talk to the players. They are motivated, they are confident. My job now is only to talk to them before the match. We have to set up some details before the match and then we are ready for the game, to make this our best game of the season.”
