PANJIM: Noel Noronha, former State Table Tennis Champion was unanimously re-elected as the president of Panjim Table Tennis Club, during the club’s annual general meeting held at Indoor Stadium, Campal, here, on Thursday.
This is Noel’s second term in office. Selvyn Godinho and Joel Andrade were re-elected as secretary and treasurer respectively, for the tenure from 2020-24.
Following is the Executive Committee: Noel Noronha (president), Selvyn Godinho (secretary), Joel Andrade (treasurer), Chetan Kavlekar and Sandeep Heble(vice presidents), Gary Freitas (joint secretary), Sachin Kenkre, Gaurang Bhangui, and Jophilip George (members). Ajit Ghantker and Sunil Parekh were nominated as advisors.
All the members were declared elected unopposed by the Returning Officer Noel Estibeiro, table tennis coach and former State player, who presided over the elections.
The club organises three tournaments annually, namely Dharwatkar Memorial Cup, GCCI Cup and Purushottam V P Navelcar Memorial Cup, apart from coaching camps and other promotional activities.
In view of the COVID-19 pandemic, the committee has taken the decision to postpone its annual tournaments by two months, and to commence activities from October, subject to further government guidelines and review.
