MAPUSA: The Mapusa Police have registered a non-cognizable offence against Sporting Clube de Goa’s Trejoy Dias who lost his cool after being sent off in the final of GFA U-20 TACA Goa match against Goan FC and punched the match referee, Tejas Nagvekar on Thursday.
Trejoy was flashed the direct red card by the FIFA referee Nagvekar in the 21st minute for a leg breaking tackle on Sarineo Fernandes inside the Goan FC penalty box. After which Trejoy reacted violently.
It has been learnt that after the match the referee made a complaint of the same at Mapusa Police station.
Sources from the Mapusa Police Station said that the victim went for medicals at the District Hospital at Mapusa on Thursday evening. The medical report is awaited and further action will be initiated after obtaining report from the hospital.
Tejas in his career has officiated five Federation Cups, which is highest recognized tournament by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and over 50 matches in the I-League since 2013. He has also officiated in five consecutive editions of the Indian Super League and AFC cup matches in more than seven countries.
