RAIA: North Goa Veterans downed South Goa Veterans 3-0 to clinch the Lourdes Festival football tournament organised by United Club of Utorda, at Utorda ground, on Sunday.
Both teams displayed good football skills in front of festival crowd. North Goa Veterans drew first blood in the 28th minute through Servino Lobo.
At lemon time, the score was 1-0. North Goa Veterans netted the second goal through defensive lapse by Seby Fernandes. Michael Dias increased the tally through a fine pass from Atul Naik.
Chief guest Thaddeus Soares gave away the prizes and trophies in presence of guest of honour Fr Arvino Fernandes, Sports Secretary Nicholas D’Sousa, Denver Barretto, Brauleo Soares and Celso Soares. President of United Club of Utorda Liberata Fernandes welcomed.
Jeremy Miranda was the match referee, Assistant Referee Anjulo Fernandes and Mario Gomes.
Anthony Pereira and Shawn Pereira compered, while the tournament was co-ordinated by Remy Pereira, Tony Fernandes, Pascoal Vaz, Jhonny Gomes and Tony Fernandes. Secretary Trindade Fernandes proposed a vote of thanks.
