DAMON-RAIA: North Veterans registered a solitary goal win against South Veterans to lift the SVD Seminary exhibition match trophy, organised by SVD Mission Seminary in association with SVD Friends Association, at SVD Seminary ground, Damon-Raia, on Sunday.
Goalkeeper of South Goa Veterans Avertano Furtado did a commendable job under the bar and saved at least three shots of North Veterans’ striker Bruno Coutinho in the fifth, eighth and 10th minutes respectively,
At the other end, strikers Salvador Carvalho and Francis D’Souza missed chances on several occasions.
Chari netted the match-winner for North Veterans in the 20th minute of the first half.
Alex Alvares of North Goa Veterans was named man-of-the-match.
