CALANGUTE: Parish Youth Nuvem brought down Nerul Sports Club 3-0 to move into the quarter-finals of Lakhanpal Novino inter-village football tournament organized by Candolim Sports Club at Dr Gustavo Monteiro ground, Candolim, Monday. The teams were locked goalless at half time.
Nuvem began the match off an attacking note and created a couple of scoring opportunities but their forwards failed to find the net with Gammy Costa’s effort going inches over the crossbar.
Nerul had a golden opportunity to take the lead but Jenifer Clemente failed to beat the rival goalkeeper in a one-on-one situation.
Changing over, Gammy broke the deadlock in the 38th minute after Joe Colaco fed him on the platter.
Joe remained lively and doubled the lead in the 50th minute off a clever through ball from Stanley Colaco.
Joe then went solo and dribbled past a couple of rival defenders to register his brace.
