RAIA: Nuvem SC defeated Arlem Youth Association 4-2 to clinch the Arlem Trophy in the final organised by Arlem Youth Association, at Raia Panchayat ground, on Sunday.
In the 6th minute, Sheehan Fernandes netted the first goal of the match for Arlem with a snap shot. Nuvem netted in three quick goals which came from the boots of Shubert Colaco with a placement shot in the tenth minute. Minutes later, Myron Borges netted a brace for Nuvem in the 30th and 36th minute.
At the other end, Arlem defender Sockey Cardozo dribbled past defenders and shot from the top of Nuvem box but Nuvem keeper Floyd Colaco was equal to the task in the 38th minute.
As the match progressed in the 48th minute, Hayson Velho made it 4-1 for Nuvem. With three minutes left for the final whistle, Danny Fernandes of Arlem made it 2-4 for Arlem.
The winners were awarded Rs 30,000 while runner- up received Rs 20,000 plus trophies.
Alex Reginaldo Lourenco MLA of Curtorim constituency was the chief guest and gave away the prizes to winners and runners-up in the presence Esmeralda Gomes, Sarpanch of VP Raia, Mario D’Souza, Dy,Sarpanch VP Raia, Anthony Pango, Executive member of GFA, Domnic Gauncar,ex-ZP member and other dignitaries.
