RAIA: Mandopa SC and Nuvem SC were involved in a 1-1 draw in a First Division football league at Navelim ground, today. There was no score at half time.
Mandopa missed to score in the 10th minute as Sweton Rebello failed to connecet a cross from Ajay Raj. Nuvem hit back and Selton Fernandes controlled a pass from Lenin Colaco and shot goalwards where Rovan Pereira of Mandopa effected a goalline save. Thereafter, in the 19th minute Mandopa goalkeeper Royal Moniz kept out a try from Degley Fernandes.
Mandopa came back with renewed vigour after the interval and Rovan’s try in the 49th minute hit the crossbar. Soon after, Nuvem’s Cajetan Fernandes shot wide.
It was in the 56th minute that Mandopa surged ahead as Nuvem goalkeeper Edrick Dias saw Ajay’s powerful free kick brushing past his legs before entering in his own goal.
Nuvem put everything in the attack and the Mandopa goalkeeper saved a glancing header from Myron. Ultimately, Nuvem secured the equaliser in the 66th minute when Lenin Colaco’s shot off Myron found its way into the Mandopa goal.
In another match, Cortalim Villagers SSWA beat Curtorim Gymkhana 3-0 at Betalbatim ground.
Preston Fernandes opened the account in the 8th minute and Amar Estibeiro doubled the lead in the 24th. Preston scored the third in the 44th minute.
Vicky Cardoso was given the marching orders in the 39th minute by the referee. Joaquim Gunja, manager, was cautioned.
