Gauresh Naik's four goals helped Calangute Association thrash St Anthony's Sports Club, 5-2

CALANGUTE: Gauresh Naik’s four goals helped Calangute Association thrash St Anthony’s Sports Club, 5-2 and reach the quarter-finals of Kingfisher Beach Football Challenge, sponsored by Kingfisher at Calangute, Thursday.

In the first half, Gauresh Naik scored a brace to give his side a 2-0 lead. In the second half, St Anthony’s Ryan D’souza and Alesh Sawant scored one apiece, but they could not stop Gauresh, who scored two more goals and Thomas D’Souza scored one more goal to give the team a 5-2 victory.

In the second match, a first minute goal scored by Odxel Sports Club’s captain Vijay Divkar helped them to a 3-0 victory over Anjuna Gymkhana. Neel Divkar and Naresh Divkar scored one each.

Goa Velha Sports Club kept their nerves to prevail over Young Boys of Tonca 6-4.

Goa Velha were given a tought fight by Tonca boys who levelled the score at 4-4 after trailing by 3 goals.

 Sporting Clube de Goa hammered St. Anthony’s Colva 7-0 while Candolim Sports Club scored a comfortable 6-1 win over Portais Sporting Club
