PANJIM: Odxel Sports Club emerged winners in eight-goal thriller in the GFA Second Division Ilhas Zone, defeating Football Club Neura 5-3 at Goa Velha ground, on Wednesday.
The scores were level 1-1 at the break.
Both teams started the match on a defensive mode and match’s first goal came at the half-hour mark when Vikant Manjuskar gave Odxel SC the lead in the 36th minute.
Down by a goal, Neura regrouped and pressed hard in search of the equaliser and managed to draw level just before the break through Anthony Afonso.
Changing ends, Odxel took just seven minutes to regain their lead when Vikant scored his brace.
At the hour-mark, Neura drew level through Dinesh Shirodkar. However, there were plenty more goals to come as Odxel scored two quick goal in the span of ten minutes through Vishant Kankonkar and Varimrang Z.
Atish Madkaikar made it 3-4 in favour of Neura in the 86th minute.
Just as Neura pressed hard to find the equalising goal, Odxel scored the fifth goal in the injury time through Vishant Kankonkar.
