PANJIM: Our Lady of Rosary High School (A), Dona Paula defeated Fr Agnel Central School, Pilar 2-0 in the 1st U-12 All Goa Don Bosco Sporting Clube de Goa Invitational Football Cup for girls, organised by Sporting Clube de Goa, at Don Bosco ground, Panjim, on recently.
Chetna Talpankar scored a goal each in either half of the play to help Our Lady of Rosary HS win the title.
Earlier, in the league stage, Fr Agnel Central School, Pilar topped the standing. collecting 12 points from four matches. They scored seven goals and conceded none during their league campaign.
Meanwhile, Our Lady of Rosary HS (A) finished second with seven points from 4 games.
Sharada Mandir School defeated Our Lady of Rosary (B) in the tie-breaker to secure the third place.
Altogether five teams participated in the tournament.
Bro. Nigel Pinto was the Chief Guest for the valedictory function and gave away the prizes to winners and runners-up in the presence of Sporting Clube de Goa CEO Welvin Menezes, Tournament Director and SCG Team Manager Angelo Albuquerque, SCG Head Coach Savio Vaz, Junior team coaches Vikram Mane, Anthony Vas, Don Bosco High School PE Teacher & SCG U-14 Coach Francisco Raposo, ex-SCG CEO Victor Fernandes and others.
Other individual awards: Best defender: Chiara Alphonso, Best striker: Chetna Talpankar (Our Lady of Rosary HS), Player of the tournament: Elizabeth Remedious (Our Lady of Rosary HS)
