ONGC Dehradun win Cuncolim Volleyball

PANJIM: ONGC Dehradun clinced the 4th all India volleyball tournament, organised by Cuncolim Union Club, at Cuncolim ground, recently.

PANJIM: ONGC Dehradun clinced the 4th all India volleyball tournament, organised by Cuncolim Union Club, at Cuncolim ground, recently.
ONGC defeated defending champions Cuncolim Union, who despite showing some early promise, fell in straight sets 25- 19, 25- 19 , 25-23 to a strategic play by the top billed ONGC that lived up to the expectations.
Vinit Kumar, who was declared Man-of-the-Final, was the one force that tore through the Goan defence.
 Raman Singh with his power serves and assists stole the hearts of the ONGC supporters.
The Goan side had Rohit, who tried their best but fell short of the expectations.
Gurinder singh of Punjab Police was declared as the Man-of-the-Tournament.
In the earlier match between the police teams for the third place, Haryana Police defeated their counterparts from Punjab 25- 23, -25-23 and 25-19
Speaking during the occasion, the Chairman of the Organising Committee Elvis Gomes said, “It is the responsibility of the Goa Volleyball Association to lift the game in Goa. “That none from the association is present is regrettable.” said Gomes. 
Gomes also revealed that despite repeated invitation, Goan players did not join the Goan team.
