MAPUSA: Brothers of Orda emerged champions in 8th Candolim inter-ward football tournament beating Camotim Boys 1-0 in the finals at Dr Gustavo Monteiro ground, Candolim, on Sunday.
Orda forged ahead in the 3rd minute when Shane Estebeiro collected a through pass from Devendra and beat the Camotim goalkeeper.
Camotim Boys, time and again, attacked the rival citadel in search of the equalizer and almost equalized but Nikhil Naik’s power-packed strike was brilliantly fisted away by the Orda custodian.
Brothers of Orda won Rs. 30000 while Camotim Boys had to be content with Rs 20,000 and trophies.
Following individual prizes were awarded: Best defender Ashley Fernandes, Orda. Best midfielder Devendra Pednekar, Orda. Best forward, Webster De Souza, Camotim Boys. Best goalkeeper Alex Pereira, Camotim Boys. Chief guest Mikey Fernandes, guest of honour John Rodrigues and Salvador of King Kane gave away the prizes. Bruno Desouza proposed the vote of thanks.
