PANJIM: P Anande will be conferred the late Dilip Sardessai outstanding sportsperson award for the 2015-16 year, on September 29, in Panjim.
The award is given to the outstanding Sportsperson from Goa who has excelled at the senior international tournaments recognised by the concerned Sports Federation and Ministry of Youth Affairs, Government of India. P Anand received a bronze plaque and a cash award of Rs 2 lakh.
During the year 2015-16 five sports person had applied for the Dilip Sardessai Award wherein P. Anand scored highest points for participating and achieving the medals at the International Taekwondo Championship during the year 2014-15.
The award will be conferred by Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar at the Multipurpose Hall, Art & Culture Department Patto, Panjim in the presence of Sports Minister and other dignitaries on September 29 at 4.30 p.m.
P Anand was born on November 21, 1991, studied at Kendriya Vidyalaya and PES Higher Secondary School and completed his graduation.
The 26-year-old trained under the guidance of SAG Coach Sunil Sharma. In all, P Anand won 16 gold at the State level, three gold at the zonal level and 19 gold, two silver and one bronze at the national level.
Apart from winning highest medals at the State level, he has participated WTF International Taekwondo training programme in Korea.
