PANJIM: Swiss Ironman triathlete, Pablo Erat, five-times champion of the Goa Triathlon will be the star attraction at the Goa Triathlon 113 scheduled to be held at the Vainguinim beach on January 13, 2019.
Erat who will lead foreign triathletes from Japan, Sweden, Australia, France, Belgium, Switzerland and Finland has personally sponsored Rs 40,000 as prize money for the fastest Indian man and woman in an effort to encourage the sport in India. The total prize money for the event is Rs 1,90,000.
Likewise, Kaustubh Radkar, India’s most accomplished Ironman triathlete with 22 Ironman titles will be the race director of the event.
“A majority of the Indian triathletes are coming from cities like Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru and Surat besides nine participants are from Goa”, he said.
“Around 130 triathletes have registered for the event. As this is our first time we have kept a cut off of 150 so the remaining 20 will be on first come first serve basis”, Elias said.
