RAIA: Paldem Sports Club prevailed over Jolly Boys of Sinaibhag 2-0 to enter into the semi-finals of 9-a-side football tournament organised by Sporting Club Virabhat at St Alex Church ground, Curtorim, on Friday.
Paldem Sports Club played an attacking football from the word go and scored two goals in two session of play.
In the first session, Benny’s powerful shoot from the box crushed into the net of Jolly Boys of Sinaibhag in the 18th minute of play. Jolly Boys of Sinaibhag’s Joban shoot hit the crossbar and went away.
At half time, the score remained 1-0 in favour of Paldem Sports Club.
In second session, Jolly Boys of Sinaibhag tried hard but defence of Paldem SC’s Diago, Seby and Peter stand firm. Paldem SC scored second goal through the efforts of Godwin’s neat placement.
Jolly Boys of Sinaibhag goalkeeper Manuel saved three brilliant saves. Till the final whistle, the scored remained 2-0 in favour of Paldem SC.
Godwin of Paldem Sports Club was awarded the man-of-the-match by Melvin Mascarenhas.
