MAPUSA: Panjim Footballers destroyed Bardez Football Club 8-1 in the Goa Professional league match organised by GFA, at Duler stadium, here, on Tuesday.
Panjim Footballers led 4-0 at half time with U-20 Delton Colaco scoring four goals while Kunal Kundaikar, Daryl Costa, Lokesh Talwar, Cyril Dias also got their names on the scoresheet.
Aniket Agarwadekar got the consolation goal for Bardez FC.
The Panjim side just took 14 minutes to get going through Delton Colaco who on collecting a pass from Clifton Fernandes slammed the ball into the net.
Kunal Kundaikar doubled the lead for the Capital side four minutes later from the penalty spot after Chandan Gawas was brought in the danger zone by Nehal Parab to make it 2-0
Bardez were completely outclassed by their opponents as it looked a routine evening for Panjim Footballers as their strikers were clinical in front of the goal.
Minutes later, Delton Colaco made it 3-0 for Panjim with a chest control finish from a delightful long ball by Daryl Costa.
Bardez keeper Elesh Shirvoikar could hardly do much as Panjim scored their fourth goal before half time through Daryl Costa this time after Valmiki Miranda provided the pass to make it 4-0.
On resumption of second half, Panjim did not sit back with the four-goal cushion as Delton Colaco got his hat-trick with a rasping left footer that crashed into the net to make it 5-0.
After the fifth goal, Bardez coach Savio D’Souza decided to replace keeper Elesh in the 51st minute with Urgen Pinto who could not do much to keep out the rampant Panjim strikers as they scored two quick goals in the 57th and 60th minutes through Delton and substitute Lokesh Talwar.
Bardez managed to score a consolation goal in the 65th minute through Aniket Agarwadekar after Carlton Cabral pass caught the entire Panjim defense off-guard.
Cyril Dias also got into the scoring act scoring the eighth goal for Panjim in the 87th minute to end a miserable day for the Bardez players.
