Panjim Footballers pip Goa Police SC

MAPUSA: An early second minute goal by Harshed Naik gave Panjim Footballers a solitary goal victory over Goa Police Sports Club in the GFA’s 1st Division League match played at Duler Stadium, here on Wednesday.
The only goal of the match came in the 2nd minute of play when Alston Canotio ran up the left flank and flashed the ball across to Harshed Naik who tapped the ball home from inside the 6-yard box, 1-0.
Goa Police almost levelled terms in the 12th minute. 
However Abdul Khan’s blistering right footer sailed just past the Panjim goal.
Five minutes into the match Goa Police keeper Niklesh Naik came with a brilliant save to deny Prisco Mouro from scoring.
Couple of minutes into the match, U-20 Vineet Bugde made a threatening run into the rival camp and managed to sneak past the Panjim keeper, however defender Casel D’Souza came with a timely clearance to avert the danger.
Changing ends Panjim Footballers concentrated on defending their one goal lead and tried to lower the pace of the match. At the other end Goa Police initiated some vicious moves, however their strikers let them down time and again. Vineet Bugde was a livewire in the Goa Police midfield sending an array of passes however Nevil Soares and Shaikh Mouzzan Saliya failed to direct their headers into the Panjim goal.
