RAIA: Parish Youth, Nuvem, scored a narrow 1-0 win over Varca SC to enter the semi-finals of 32nd Super Soccer tournament in memory of Joao Francis Fernandes at Dando ground, Benaulim, Saturday.
Mildroy Colaco scored what ultimately proved to be the match-winner in the seventh minute.
The early goal gave Nuvem the advantage, and they maintained the lead throughout. Goalkeeper Mohammed, put up an outstanding performance making some excellent saves and he was resposible for keeping Nuvem’s margin to just one goal. His efforts kept the scoreline low despite Nuvem’s attempts to add more goals.
The second half saw a shift in momentum as Varca started taking control of the proceedings. Clayton and Colombo combined well, creating chances for Varca’s team but an equal them. Things took a turn for the worse for Varca when their goalkeeper Mohammed, received a straight red card.
Despite the setback, Varca continued to push forward and gave Nuvem some anxious moments towards the end of the game. But Nuvem managed to hold on and defend their lead until the final whistle.
