MAPUSA: Clube de Salgaocar managed to hold Guardian Angel SC to a goalless draw in the 2nd edition of Bhausaheb Bandodkar Memorial Trophy, organised by GFA, held at Duler stadium, here, on Wednesday.
Guardian Angel after their humiliating 5-0 defeat to Sesa FA played a better match, while Salgaocar colts who had piped Sesa FA with a solitary goal failed to score in the 90 minutes of duel, though having better of the exchanges.
Angel’s custodian Oswin Rodrigues brought two breath taking saves to deny Isac Zomuanpuia (14th minute) and Meuton Fernandes (16th minute) strikes from close.
Once again in the 40th minute goalkeeper Oswin thwarted Royal Oliveira in one-to-one situation.
On crossing ends Angel’s came with back-to-back attempts but this time Salgaocar’s goalkeeper came with a full stretched diving save to block Clifton Rebello’s stiff grounder and the ball rolled to Antush Moniz whose strike hit the far post.
At the other end, Isaac blasted the ball wide from close after Moirangmayum Metei had done the spadework.
Another close opportunity went in vain for Salgaocar when a teasing free-kick by Isac saw defender Suraj and Ashil Saju a bit late to connect into the unguarded goal.
In the added time Angel would have broken the hearts of the newly entrants but an open header from close by unmarked substitute Godwin Fernandes sailed over the crossbar.
