PAX of Nagoa look to create history, seek blessings for the new season

To kick off their season’s campaign in the prestigious Bhausaheb Bandodkar Memorial Trophy, at the Chowgule ground, Margao, today

NAGOA: PAX of Nagoa Sports Club before kicking off their 2024 season on Monday took part in the Eucharistic Celebration to seek blessings at Our Lady of Succour and Good Success Church, Nagoa, on Sunday.

The Mass celebrated by Parish Priest Fr Edson marked a solemn yet inspiring start to what promises to be a historic season for the club.

With all players in attendance, the team gathered to receive blessings for the upcoming season. Fr Edson also blessed the team kits, a symbolic act that filled the players and staff with renewed energy and commitment.

Following the Mass, the team gathered at a restaurant in Nagoa for a dinner that was more than just a meal – it was an evening of bonding and setting the tone for the season ahead.

Head Coach Mateus Costa and Team Principal Osric Cabral addressed the players, delivering motivating speeches that emphasised on unity, hard work, and the club’s ambitions.

Costa, known for his tactical acumen, spoke about the importance of working as a team, while Cabral reiterated the club’s goal of securing their first-ever Goa Pro League title.

The evening served as an opportunity for the players to strengthen their camaraderie before they take the field on Monday, August 12, in the prestigious Bhausaheb Bandodkar Memorial Trophy, at the Chowgule ground, Margao.

With last season’s near-miss still fresh in their minds, where the team was in contention for the Goa Professional League title until the final day, the squad is determined to go one better this year. The focus is clear: lifting the Goa Pro League trophy for the first time in the club’s history.

As the team prepares for this crucial first test, there is a palpable sense of optimism and determination among the players and staff alike.
