RAIA: Pax of Nagoa salvaged a 1-1 draw against FC Goa in the GFA’s Goa Professional League match played at Nagoa ground, on Friday.
Joseph Clemente’s early own goal gave FC Goa an advantage, but Pax of Nagoa’s Velroy Fernandes secured a late equaliser in the 89th minute. Initially, FC Goa dominated the proceedings, with Ozen Silva making crucial saves, including a one-on-one with Salgeo Dias.
Despite constant pressure, Pax of Nagoa resiliently grew into the game, creating chances. The match intensified in the last 10 minutes, with Nickson Castanha’s near-lethal shot narrowly missing.
Fernandes capitalised on a loose ball, lobbing it over FC Goa defenders and the goalkeeper, resulting in a 1-1 deadlock. The man-of-the-match award was presented to Micky Dias of FC Goa by coach Derrick Dias in the presence of Anthony Pango, senior vice-president of Goa Football Association.
