MARGAO: Pax of Nagoa SC emerged victorious against Cortalim Villagers with a 2-0 win in a pre-season friendly, at the Dando ground, in Cana-Benaulim. The match was a test of endurance and skill as players from both sides pushed their limits under testing conditions, as they prepare for the upcoming 2023-24 Goa Professional League season.
The game was evenly balanced until a set-piece routine from Pax saw new signing Velrose Dias open the scoring.
Pax’s marquee signing, Beneston Barretto then showed a glimpse of his talent as he met Jesloy Moniz’s excellent low-cross with a clever back-heel finish to score at the near post.
Pax of Nagoa SC finished fourth last year, while Cortalim were not far behind, finishing in fifth place.
