MARGAO: Pax of Nagoa Sports Club thumped Cuncolim Union 4-1 to enter the quarter-finals of the All-Goa Inter-Village Lourdes festival football tournament, organized by United Club of Utorda in association with Our Lady of Lourdes (Utordekars in UAE), at SAG Utorda ground, on Monday.
Cuncolim Union scored through Clifton Fernandes in the 15th minute after being set up by Frazer Fernandes.
However, Pax of Nagoa equalized in the 18th minute with a deft placement by Savio Fernandes as the rival goalkeeper was taken by surprise. Savio was assisted by Hilton Pereira.
Subsequently, Noel D’Silva increased the lead for Pax of Nagoa in the 27th minute. The score at the lemon break was 2-1.
Cuncolim’s Aenshe Fernandes missed to score in the 50th minute with only the goalkeeper at his mercy.
Cuncolim made several inroads into rival territory. Frazer Fernandes sent in an accurate through ball to Norman Fernandes but the latter missed a golden opportunity to score.
At the other end, Savio scored a brace in the 55th minute while Ajay rounded off the tally in the dying minutes.
