PANJIM: Pogo Boys, Gaunchem Bhat, Merces will organise their fourth edition of the PBC Cup, an eight-a-side football tournament, from August 8 to 24, at Merces church ground.
The twelve-day tournament will feature 14 teams that will battle it out in the knockout phase for the ultimate crown.
“We had huge success in the previous editions of the tournament and we have worked harder to make it better this year. This year it’s going to be even more interesting as we have skilful players plying their trade in this tournament, ” said Venancio tournament director.
“In addition to all the beautiful game that we will witness on the outset of the tournament, there will be Goa’s top-most artist’ performing during the closing ceremony,” added Venancio.
The draw will be held on July 30. The finals will be played on august 24 on the occasion of the feast of Konsachem Fest.
There will be a musical evening followed by the final at the Merces church ground wherein Rita Rose and her troupe will perform along with other artist’ to wind up the two-week football tourney.
Altogether 14 teams will be participating in the tournament. Following are the teams: Gaunchem Bhat A, Gaunchem Bhat B, St Caitan, Fonsa Bhat, Bernard Carnerio, Carmichea Bhat A, Carmichea Baht B, Kumar Wado, Temba Ward, Moloca Ward, Don Joao, Voilem Bhat Ward, Mesta Bhat and Bamon Bhat.
