PUNE: Goa’s Pearl Colvalcar made the headlines once again as she clinched gold at the Prestigious Inland Enterprise Championships (IEC) held at National Defense Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla, Pune, recently.
Pearl teamed up with Vikas Kapila from Mumbai and in a fleet of 75 boats (teams) managed to overcome a bad start in the first race where they finished 39th to win the championship, a clear 3 points ahead of their closest rivals Ayaz Shaikh and Upkar Singh.
Colvalcar has been training for the last 5 years spending more time on water than on land has participated in at least 6 National Ranking Championships and the Asian Sailing Championship in Abu Dhabi in the last year itself and won medals in 4 of them.
Pearl Colvalcar is the recipient of the Pradhan Mantri Bal Shakti Puraskar at the hands of the President of India Ram Nath Kovind & she has also been felicitated by PM Narendra Modi for her achievements in Sailing and Windsurfing.
She is currently preparing to undertake a 3 month training program in Malta and participate at the ILCA 4 world Championships in Europe.
