VARCA: Pedda Boys C got the better of Pedda A 5-4 via the tie-breaker to move into the semi-finals of the Chelsea Memorial Varca inter-ward football tournament, organised by United Boys of Varca and played at Varca ground, on Monday.
It was Elister of Pedda C who shot at the rival goal in the second minute but Maxwell Pereira, keeper of Pedda A fisted away the ball for a corner kick.
Joel Lobo broke the deadlock for Pedda Boys C in the 4th minute. Jaylon Pereira equalised for Pedda A in the 39th minute. The teams were tied 1-1 at the end of regulation time.
In the tie-breaker, Pedda C netted through Reagan, Velford, Joylon and Joel while Yunal, Mackbon and Joel scored for the losers.
In the second quarter-final, Novangully beat Pedda B 5-2 in tie-breaker.
Arron Baretto opened the account for Pedda B in the 3rd minute. In the 20th minute Aaron made it 2-0 for Pedda B.
Corssing ends, Novangully attacked and scored in the 28th minute through Rosario Costa. Again in the 35th minute, Rosario rushed in the rival goal area and tapped the ball to make it 2-2. In penalty shootout Novangully scored through Quelon, Bapan and Jonas and while all shots of Pedda B were saved by Mohamed goalkeeper of Novangully.
