MAPUSA: Penha de Franca edge past Adarsh Yuvak Sangh, Saligao 4-3 via the tie-breaker to advance into the second round of 7th Reira Trophy football organized by Saligao Sporting Club at Saligao ground, Friday. The teams were locked 2-2 at full time.
The match opened with Penha de Franca making several forays. They surged ahead in the 18th minute through Raju Padashi, who shot past the rival goalkeeper. They continued maintaining good ball possession and doubled their lead in the 23rd minute through Amar Pilakar’s strike.
Two minutes later, Adarsh pulled one back as Govind Mahale dribbled past the rival defenders and scored.
In the second session, Adarsh were determined to crawl back into the match and Rohidas Mhalozi leveled the scores in the 35th minute.
The teams tried hard to score the decider but time ran out.
In the tie-breaker, Penda de Franca proved to be better shooters as Parshuram and Siddesh kept their cool while only Paulo converted for Adarsh.
