PANJIM: Penha de Franca defeated Sanquelim FC 5-3 via tie-breaker to advance to the next round of the Aldona Cup at Quitula ground, Aldona, on Saturday. Full time score was 1-1.
Sanquelim opened the scoring in the 20th min through Prasad Ghadi with a curling shot that beat keeper Suraj hands down. Penha de Franca equalized in the 53rd min trough a penalty taken by Siddesh Palekar.
In the ensuing tie-breaker Siddesh Palekar, Amar Kinleakar, Akshay Shirodkar, Alex Dsouza and Sailesh Lingudkar scored for Perna de Franca. For Sanquelim, Ismail Savanur, Prasad Ghadi and Milind Rane were on target, while Pravin Kanekar’s shot was saved by keeper Suraj.
