CALANGUTE: Penha de Franca overcame Goa Velha Sports Club 4-3 on penalties to move into quarter-finals of Aasiana Lakhanpal Gold Cup inter village football tournament organised by Candolim Sports Club, at Dr. Gustavo Monteiro Stadium, Candolim, on Monday.
Both the teams went into the penalty shootout as they could not break the deadlock in regulation time. Penha de Franca boys kept the nerves to romp home winners by 4-3.
Mohd. Nadal, Alex D’Souza, Parshuram and Devendra converted for the winners while Newton Pereira, Melroy D’Silva and Denzil Cabral found the net for Goa Velha.
