Penha de Franca defeated Saligao Sporting 6-4 via the sudden-death tie-breaker in Sodiem Siolim super soccer tournament at Siolim ground on Wednesday.
Saligao started the game on a positive note and scored within first 10 minutes through Nagendra Kumar. Penha de Franca increased the tempo and equalized through Seby in the 15th minute. Melroy of Penha scored the second goal for his team in the 22nd minute. Penha de Franca led 2-1 at half time.
Changing over, Saligao went all out for the equalizer which was smartly obtained by Joseph Monteiro through a penalty kick in the 56th minute. At full-time the scores were level at 2-each.
In the ensuing tie-breaker Seby, Felix, Chalton and Nitin scored for Penha de Franca while Udai and Joseph were on target for Saligao.
