RAIA: Perpetual Convent High School, Navelim, triumphed over Bethany Convent High School, Sao Jose De Areal, with a 5-0 victory to clinch the Founders Cup 2024 in the U-17 inter-school football tournament, organised by the Union of Chinchinim Villagers and played at Chinchinim Church ground.
Perpetual Convent took the lead in the 8th minute with a goal from Taufique Gundar. Vernon Cardozo extended their advantage to 2-0 in the 17th minute. Amron Fernandes then scored twice in quick succession in the 24th and 25th minutes, bringing the score to 4-0 by halftime.
Despite Bethany Convent’s efforts to narrow the gap in the second half, Perpetual Convent’s defense remained impenetrable. Taufique Gundar scored his second goal in the 15th minute of the second half, securing a 5-0 victory for Perpetual Convent High School, Navelim.
The awards were presented by chief guest – Christian Roldan, Sports Director, The Kings Sports Academy. Mario Furtado, son of UCV founder Late Joe Meny Furtado and Somnath Kamat, brother of founder member Late Anil Kamat were the guests of honour.
