RAIA: In the winner-takes-it-all match, Perpetual Succour Convent High School, Goa, played out a goalless draw against St Stephen’s School, Chandigarh, but failed to qualify for the quarterfinals of the under-15 boys, 63rd Subroto Cup Sub Junior Boys International Football tournament, played at Bangalore ground, on Wednesday.
Goa finished their campaign unbeaten and without conceding a goal but, unfortunately, did not qualify for the quarter-finals, totalling five points. St Stephen’s School booked their place in the quarterfinals, topping Group G.
Both teams played aggressively, but the score remained 0-0 at halftime. In the second half, Perpetual Succour’s Ashnoy took a long-range shot that hit the goal post, and Emmanuel Gama also came close but struck the post.
Despite Goa’s best efforts to score, Chandigarh’s defense held firm until the final whistle.
