Pilerne SC drub Sinquerim 4-1

MAPUSA: Pilerne Sports Club registered a thumping 4-1 win over Sinquerim Sports Club in the 5th round match of the GFA’s 2nd Division league, played at Duler Stadium, Mapusa on Friday.

Pilerne’s Anson D’Souza recorded the quickest hat-trick of this season’s edition of GFA’s 2nd Division league giving his side a 3-0 breather at half-time. 

Changing end, Sinquerim showed more intent and were rewarded with a goal through Criziol Alvares, who gave finishing touches to a long ball floated into the box by Donald Rocha, 3-1.

Pilerne’s  keeper,  Krupesh who had nothing much to do in the match then brought two back-to-back saves to deny Krishna and Sanket Pal from getting Sinquerim back on level terms. 

Chaitan who was outstanding for Pilerne deservedly got a goal in injury time, rounding off Sinquerim’s  keeper to slot the ball into the net to complete the rout, 4-1.

In another match at Ambelim ground, Nuvem Sports Club recorded a 2-1 win over St Anthony’s SC Assolda.

Nuvem started the match on the attacking front and scored two quick goals in the first quarter. Nuvem’s Dickson Dias scored in the 4th minute and then Clifton Rebello doubled the lead eight minutes later.

Stung by the two-goal deficit, St Anthony’s SC Assolda came back strongly and managed to reduce the deficit in the 17th minute through Jaison Dias. The first half score remained 2-1 in favour of Nuvem. In the second half, both the teams failed to convert their chances
